Many of you, we know, are celebrating Earth Day today as well as William Shakespeare’s birthday and the creation of the polio vaccine this week. While your enthusiasm is high, we want to add another cause for celebration. This is National Infant Immunization Week! Hadn’t heard of it before? Well, we, the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the CDC, believe there is much to celebrate and remember. The instance of many common infant maladies is much lower in the US because we safely immunize our children against them. We can not take this for granted or unwisely assume the likelihood of exposure to be lower than the risk of the immunization. Read our Immunization Philosophy and schedule and be informed by consulting the CDC’s website. Do it for your child this week!
